Getcha head in the game, girl!
Columbia Public Schools coaches are tackling the drop in girls sports participation by supporting their female athletes.
Photography by: Austin Johnson

Vox Magazine's feature over girls sports was quickly decided by the Art Directors and I that it should be a story accompanied with fun and unique photography. Which led us to decide that we should lean into motion. So, I collaborated with Columbia Missourian photographer, Austin Johnson, to research and choose some techniques to bring out and emphasize the idea of motion.

Out of the wild was one of the last two features I worked on during my time with Vox Magazine and it was one the Art Directors and I planned to have as a very photography heavy feature. Which meant that we put a lot of planning into it and I worked with two photographers to curate the best selection of photographs for the issue. I accompanied Alex Buchanan to the farm to gather drone footage, and instructed Audrey on what to focus on during the two times she worked on site gathering images.

Columbia celebrates Easter with egg hunts
Photography by: Michael Baniewicz, Abram Barker, and Yi Gao

For Easter, the Columbia Missourian wanted to have coverage of local egg hunts happening around the community. I coordinated what photographers would go to which egg hunt, compiled all of their photos over a course of two days, and toned them all to create the package that published in both print and online.
